An affordable and safe system for game-based therapy of the ankle joint

Abstract Musculoskeletal and nervous system injuries strokes can influence the ankle in a way, that rehabilitation exercise is inevitable to regain patient’s quality of life. However, increasing needs for physiotherapists complex machinery independent limit possibility experiencing proper care. One approach address this issue developing an affordable, safe, cheap treatment solution. This paper presents mechanically actuated mechanism, which incorporates use patients’ upper limbs work on ankle's range motion. The mechanism consists Four-Bar linkage (FBL) translate rotary motion into oscillating angular displacement ankle. It provides base gamified rehabilitation, acting as input device game, controlled by user; adopting with commercial games required steps designing game purposes.
